Every Leader Should Lead to Well Done
Every CEO and business leader can follow these simple principles to celebrate their twenty-something employees in a way that creates value.
Team members report that healthy relationships in the workplace is key. In an April 2016 report, “Employee Job Satisfaction and Engagement: Revitalizing a Changing Workforce,” the Society for Human Resource Management noted that, “because employees spend much of their waking hours at work, it is not difficult to understand the importance of interpersonal dynamics in the workplace.
Leaders and managers are often challenged when dealing with those who've just entered the corporate world. I work with CEOs who lead various sizes of businesses, and many of them have reported such struggles. One of the challenges I hear about often is how to help these new workers learn how to integrate successfully into the corporate culture.
Leaders can overcome their limits to achieve breakthroughs. In other words, leaders can become limitless leaders when they identify those aspects of their operational habits that limit their leadership.
Some of the most significant problems that a leader will ever face are problems in the mind. The leader's thinking will often determine how far they can go and what they can accomplish. I've discovered that there are five essential affirmations that a leader must embrace if they are going to continue to experience breakthroughs and break out of ruts and setbacks.
Successful business leaders are always looking for that one skill or activity that will give them the edge in business. I have found one essential tool for every business owner that helps them to get ahead. One tool that every leader should utilize is a leadership mastermind.Give customers a reason to do business with you.
Great companies and leaders develop themselves through a series of making good choices that bring about excellent results. In fact, the legacy of a leader is often determined by the decision and choices that they make. The better the decisions, the better the results.
I like to remind leaders that our destiny unfolds in the future, but it is shaped by the decisions that we make today. Leadership expert Peter Drucker once quipped that "Whenever you see a successful business, someone once made a courageous decision."
However, many leaders fail as executives because of the poor choices they make in their position. It's time that CEOs and leaders embrace the importance of good decision making. Here are some of the critical decisions they must make:
1. To Work 'On' The Business
Many leaders fall into the rut of simply working in the business and never on the business. Effective leaders understand the importance of getting off the crazy cycle to find a new direction, inspiration and specific strategy to move the business forward. There are many ways leaders can do this, such as seeking personal coaching or hosting a business roundtable. It's up to you to make the shift.
2. To Delegate And Trust Their Team
Leaders often try to do everything themselves and feel like they have to micromanage everything in the organization. But when a leader follows this model, they actually become the bottleneck for growth and success. When you're making every last decision in an organization, people begin to fear making decisions themselves.
I believe that it's a wise decision to make the a foundational principle on which to build a business. The Golden Rule has inspired so many people throughout the ages, and businesses can benefit from it too. In this day and age when it often seems as if customer service has been devalued or discontinued, businesses that focus on treating others like they would like to be treated have an opportunity to make a greater impact on their customers.
Effective communication is essential for every leader who wants to lead well. Many leaders and CEOs never understand the power of communicating the right message in the rightway.
Great leaders practice developing good qualities daily. Leaders who wish to transform their company culture and the people they lead must become transformational leaders by molding themselves into a servant leader. It requires that leaders cultivate an attitude of servanthood and thoughtfulness. Servant leaders think of others first above their business and even above results.
A few minutes of self-inquiry each morning can make a big difference in the outcomes and success of your day. Heightened mental clarity and self-awareness can be a competitive advantage.
A robust and growing company has to focus on both attracting and keeping customers. As the chief servant officer of a company that guides CEOs, I've learned that a “both-and” strategy pertaining to customers is essential for continuous growth and a healthy bottom line. When a leader plants seeds of loyalty in their customer base, they reap a harvest of retained customers and retained profits.

The potential for disruption is always there in any marketplace. Disruptive innovation by definition refers to: a change and eventually disrupts an existing market and value network, displacing established market-leading firms, products, and alliances. The new business reality is that customers want things done better, quicker, and with less effort on their part. As a result, customer-centric innovation demands that leaders define new ways to interact with products and processes.
One of the most widely-known and influential thinkers on management, Peter Drucker stated the purpose of every business was to create customers. In fact, he said, “The purpose of business is to create and keep a customer.”
This simple statement is deep and profound – especially in the context of business activity and focus. When business leaders forget their primary focus is to acquire and retain customers failure is eminent.
One essential role every CEO must accept is that of Chief Sales Officer (CSO). The task at hand is to ensure every facet of business operations is customer-centric. Many times this translates to providing great customer service. However, before you improve customer service, you have to attract customers you can serve.
Acquire and attract new customers:
Here’s a look at how to get started.
1. Schedule time to build your customer base.
Our schedules reflect our priorities. Sales leadership and management should be a regular activity on your calendar. Successful CEOs know the importance of customer acquisition. Leaders that grow successful companies never leave sales to chance or happenstance. Instead, they make sales related activities a top priority. They understand that sales are the most critical activity in any business and they measure it relentlessly.
Q: How much time and effort do you give to sales? Do you track new leads on a consistent basis?
"The purpose of business is to create and keep a customer."
